On November 18, 2016, President Donald Trump nominated Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) to be the 84th Attorney General of the United States. The Senate is expected to vote on Senator Sessions’ nomination in the coming days.
As Attorney General, Senator Sessions would have great influence over many policy areas of key importance to the Reform Movement, including civil rights, religious freedom, women’s rights, LGBTQ equality and immigration. Senator Sessions’ record and his testimony at his confirmation hearing indicate that, as Attorney General, he would impede the Justice Department’s mandate to enforce crucial laws for which our Movement has advocated.
As the full Senate vote approaches, it is crucial that we raise our voices in opposition to Senator Sessions’ nomination. Join Reform Jews around the country in calling your Senators, urging them to vote against Senator Sessions’ confirmation.
