Rabbis Organizing Rabbis - Immigration Advocacy

ROR Immigration Advocacy

Rabbis Organizing Rabbis (ROR) is a project of the Reform Movement’s social justice initiatives: the Justice and Peace Committee of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, the Religious Action Center, and Just Congregations. Through the Rabbis Organizing Rabbis Campaign, we come together as a unified Reform Movement with justice at our core. We seek to build a powerful network of Reform Jews praying with our feet through effective grassroots and legislative action on vital justice issues of our time.

Saving Immigrant Families

Joining leading immigration reform organizations, Rabbis Organizing Rabbis are working to halt the nearly 1,100 deportations that occur daily, which is more than at any point in U.S. history.

Luis and family

Luis Lopez Acabal gets to go home!

For months, Rabbis Organizing Rabbis have been making direct advocacy calls to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in order to halt the deportation of Luis Lopez Acabal. We have now learned the Luis will be protected by a provision of President Obama's recent executive action on immigration. Read a full update from Rabbi Esther Lederman at RACBlog:

Over the past year, as ROR has worked on immigration reform, we have learned that thousands of immigrants are torn from their families every day through deportation. Mothers, fathers, and grandparents without documents are sent back to countries ravaged by drug cartels and poverty, far away from the families that depend on them. Deportation is an important part of border enforcement, but we have learned that too many innocent people are caught in the system.

Stories of Success

Thousands of immigrants are torn from their families every day. Thanks to calls from rabbis and other immigrant rights groups, these men have been allowed to stay in their homes:
